WEEK 1 - DAY 1 FEELING HUNGRY/ GOT MY PERIOD

Day 1 - Good morning. My name is Caz. I am 27 years old. I work a very successful job. The only problem is my health and weight, so I am doing Optifast.


Today is my first day of Optifast. I'm nervous. I'm excited. I'm motivated. But I will not lie .. I'm dreading it. I've done diets before and a lot of them I have been quite successful. But I always get cranky, feel miserable and worst of all .. seem to put the weight back on.


WEIGHT: In terms of my weight, I am 92.1 kgs. The heaviest I have ever been.


Anyway we need to be positive. We need to look at the good parts of this. So let's get started.


WHY OPTIFAST? I'd never heard it before until I started watching a health blogger I hadn't been following until about 3 years ago. She had lost HEAPS of weight AGAIN. It looked like she had gotten gastric sleeve bypass surgery, lucky for some. I didn't have $12,000 sitting around for surgery to make my stomach smaller. However she wasn't the only one, several girls were doing it. I didn't think you could be that young. No .. I would be doing this on my own accord, no surgeries, no sponsorship, just hardwork. So let's get into it.


It's Day 1. Last night for some reason I popped into the local chemist. We were looking around. I grabbed some sleeping pills (I'm a notorious depriver of sleep), heel balm and .. Optifast. I asked my partner to choose which one, he picked the box of 10 for $49 NZD which had 5 different flavours. Those were chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, chai and coffee.


Shake 1 - Anyway so back to Day 1. The first shake I had for breakfast. I ran to the supermarket before work to pick up a shaker. At work, I filled up 250 ml of water in it. I will be honest with you, in the bathroom I poured my shake into the shaker. This was to avoid any questions or unnecessary comments. I have quite a few morbidly obese colleagues (way bigger than me) and I'm sure I was going to get their opinion.


Anyway. I had the vanilla flavor of course. My favourite all time protein shake flavor. I drank in class and felt more satisfied than I would if I had a protein shake.


Shake 2 - I had at lunch. Vanilla flavor also.


Afternoon snack - I had a banana, which was much needed at this point.


Dinner - My partner made a HUGE salad. In it I had cos lettuce, tomato, avocado and fake chicken, Yes I know it's supposed to be only certain vegetables, but I was lacking in calories. Also we're supposed to have 100grams extra of dairy which I am not planning to do.


OVERALL DAY 1: Feeling hungry not going to lie. I was going to get an egg sandwich but thought NO, last the first three days and see how it goes.
